What is known today as the original site of Kai Tak Airport was an area of natural waters in the early 20th century. Greenery abounded along the coastline, with hillocks, walled villages and farmlands mapping out Kowloon City, Ma Tau Wai and Po Kong; the sea-facing Ngau Chi Wan was a piece of wetland, while Ngau Tau Kok and Kwun Tong were too high and steep a terrain to be inhabited. Now that Kowloon has been highly developed, all these natural sceneries, though to be found just decades ago, sounded like an ancient tale…
