In the poster, the Chinese lady on the front wore long braids and traditional plain clothing while the lady at the back wore modern Western clothing, yet both were reading and writing. This advertisement attracted modern laides as it conveyed the idea that Chinese women were no longer bound by feudalism; they knew how to dress up and seek knowledge.
