If you itch for such an enjoyment in this classic building, do take the steps to make yourself rich and join the Club before the 1980s. For, in 1981, the Club reached with few objections the resolution to demolish the palatial clubhouse, as the cost was too high to maintain the aging premise. Four years later the modern skyscraper building we see today was erected. Up to the present it is still considered one of the most pitiful, and inexpedient, demolitions in Hong Kong. Today The Hong Kong Club had around 1,400 members, and, as in the past, foreigners make up the majority.
