Christian churches had no less influence on Mr. Sun and his compatriots than western learning. The London Missionary Society, in particular, was closely related to them. Over the years it had been spreading the gospel and western thoughts through offering medical service, education, newspaper and various kinds of publication to the Chinese society.
When in high school, Mr. Sun was baptized under the name Sun Rixin at the Congregational Christian Church (aka American Congregational Mission), together with his friend Lu Hao-tung. He also lived in the Church's preaching hall. After graduated from the Central School, Mr. Sun undertook medical training at the Canton Pok Tsai Hospital established by Christian church. With his return a year later he entered the Hong Kong College of Medicine for Chinese founded and run by the London Missionary Society. His tie with Christian churches was, in a word, inextricable.
